For the first time ever, Race Of Champions (ROC) comes to New Zealand, turning Hnry Stadium in Wellington into a purpose-built tarmac race circuit for two nights of head-to-head racing between some of world motorsport's biggest names, all driving identical cars so that only driver skill determines the winner.
The ROC Nations Cup on Saturday 9 January crowns the world's fastest nation, and the individual Champion of Champions title is decided on Sunday 10 January.
Both nights: gates 5:00pm · show starts 6:00pm · drivers presentation 6:45pm · racing 7:00pm · finish approx. 10:00pm. The organisers note the schedule is subject to change.
As announced by the organisers on 29 September 2026: four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel, 10-time F1 race winner Valtteri Bottas, 13-time F1 race winner and two-time ROC Champion of Champions David Coulthard, action sports star Travis Pastrana (representing Team USA), Supercars champions Chaz Mostert, Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown, and New Zealand rally star Hayden Paddon.
More drivers from Formula 1, Supercars, Le Mans, NASCAR, World Rally and Rallycross are due to be announced in the coming weeks, and the line-up is subject to change. Past ROC competitors have included Lando Norris, Valentino Rossi, Fernando Alonso, David Coulthard, Mika Häkkinen, Sébastien Loeb and both Michael and Mick Schumacher.

Hnry Stadium (105 Waterloo Quay, Pipitea) is about 1km north of Wellington's CBD. Its capacity is around 34,500, most of it undercover. The stadium was known as Sky Stadium from 2020 until March 2026, and before that as Westpac Stadium or "the Cake Tin". For ROC its natural grass pitch is replaced with a temporary asphalt circuit, the first motorsport event of this scale at the venue.
Metlink trains run every 30 minutes from Wellington Railway Station and connect to the stadium via the Fran Wilde Walkway; frequent Metlink buses also serve the venue. Parking details are on Hnry Stadium's getting-here page.
The event is backed by the NZ Government through MBIE and delivered in partnership with WellingtonNZ.
