about this event

NIRS season finale at Maramarua Forest — three loops with the last one in darkness, followed by end of season prizegiving. Based at Te Kauwhata Rugby Club.

The RallyDrive NZ Maramarua Forest Rally is the finale of the 2026 Hawkeswood Mining North Island Rally Series — and it ends the season with something no other round can offer: darkness. Three 40km loops through Maramarua Forest near Te Kauwhata, with the final loop run at night under headlights — pace notes in the dark, the forest closing in on either side, and the NIRS championship on the line. Based at the Te Kauwhata Rugby Club on Mahi Road, the event wraps up with the 2026 NIRS end of season prizegiving, making it a full day and evening worth the trip. The daytime loops include an 80km Clubmans option for those wanting to experience the famous forest stages without the full competition commitment. Conveniently located just off State Highway 2 between Auckland and Hamilton, Te Kauwhata is an easy run for fans from either city.
